Hello again, there’s snow in Queensland today, might have to migrate even further north, although our members up there tell me they are feeling pretty cold too, at the moment.
There are still a couple of outstanding Branch Yearly Reports, if the Branches involved could please get those reports here at the office as soon as possible. Then we can do our part and get a report into E.C.Q.
As soon as the new Queensland electoral borders are announced we are to have large billboards up in the area that Rod Watson chooses to stand for State election. Rod W stated that the Nanango Branch are very supportive of him.
The September State Committee meeting will be used as a Policy discussion meeting, anyone interested in attending will be most welcome. It will be held on the third Sunday, which is the 21st and commences usually at 9am. Lunch will be available, so please ring if you intend to come to assist the catering.
We have just finished organizing a total member post out, Susanne needs a big thank you for printing out all the membership notices and cards, she, like the rest of us, is a volunteer and we appreciate her enthusiastic help. Susanne was the lady that did our minutes at the last AGM.
There is an explanation with the notice, of the new "no pay" membership, but logically we still need money to keep the Party going, so we are expecting donations according to what you can afford. It has been suggested that you arrange a monthly bank transfer to the Party’s General Account, we wouldn’t miss five dollars or so a month, but if everyone did that we would have a constant flow of income. I feel it is a great idea.
We also have a note in your letter advising the AGM will be in November, the third Saturday, which is the 15th. commencing at 8.30am for registration. All registered members welcome. Lunch will be provided.
An open Forum is to be held in the afternoon which will be open also to non members who may be interested.
You will find there is a "Nomination for State Officers" form also in you correspondence, please return this as soon as possible keeping in mind that the State Secretary would like to opt out this year, she has been doing the job for the last five years and feels the responsibility should now go to someone else. She only took the job on as Interim till the next AGM. 2003.
The Dutch Auction for the collectable spoons in the cabinet is not going very fast, so if you are a collector it wouldn’t cost too much to win the competition. Remember it finalises at the end of August. The going amount at the moment is $35.
This should make you proud to be an Aussie. Man calls the Police Station. "Yes, how can we help you? "I’m calling to report about my neighbor, Wazza, he’s hiding cocaine inside his firewood." "Thank you for the call"
Next day, the police descend on Wazza’s house, search it thoroughly, then into the shed, where the firewood is. With axes they chopped up every piece of firewood they could find but found no cocaine. They used some choice language and left.
The phone rings at Wazza’s. "Hey Wazz, did the cops come, "Yep". "Did they chop up your firewood" "Yep"…………… "Happy Birthday Maaaate"
Time to go.
Kind regards, Anne.
