MANY ATTEND
FORUM TO HEAR DR HARMS SPEAK ON THE DANGERS OF FLUORIDE
Held at the Camden Community Hall on the 6th of July, One
Nation’s Open Forum received strong support from both members and
supporters in welcoming Dr. Andrew Harms, a former State Branch
president of the Australian Dental Association.

Based upon sound research and experience, Dr. Harms concisely
revealed his concerns with water fluoridation, much of which arises from
the damaging impact it has not just on teeth, but the human body in
general.
It was outlined to the audience that because fluoride can accumulate
within the internal structure of bones and teeth, the substance
essentially weakens the very elements it is supposed to protect!
Consequently it was suggested that water fluoridation might, in fact,
contribute to aching joints and bone fractures.
Dr. Harms importantly noted that fluoride is actually a waste
product, with acidity levels so powerful that environmental dumping is
largely prohibited. This is due to the noticeable quantities of arsenic
and lead contained within, components that, if consumed enough, can
cause serious health problems including neurological damage.
Fluoride has managed to enter our water supply, however, due to
widespread corruption, lying and faulty research from the Australian
Dental Association itself. This organisation is a boisterous advocate of
water fluoridation, quick to silence anti-fluoridation lobbyists and
ignore any evidence or research contrary to their position.
Dr. Harms concluded his presentation by answering a number of
questions from concerned listeners. The period also saw him admit
rainwater tanks being the only secure device to avoid fluoridated water
consumption.
State Executive member David Dwyer then moved a vote of thanks, which
was followed by State President Stan Batten making a small presentation
to Dr. Harms.

LEST WE FORGET
ON FRIDAY (25th April 2008) Australian troops in Afghanistan took part
in Anzac Day dawn services. On Sunday night Lance Corporal Jason Marks
was killed in Afghanistan when his patrol was attacked by Taliban
militants. Four other Australians were wounded.
Lance-Cpl
Marks is the fifth Australian killed in Afghanistan since 2001 and -
according to the Australian War Memorial - the latest of 102,812
Australians killed in all wars.
This makes his death no less tragic, his courage under fire no less
heroic. Lance-Cpl Marks demonstrated that the Anzac spirit endures, not
only at crowded commemoration services but on the deadly fields of
battle.
Even with modern technology and sophisticated weaponry, the cauldron
of war remains as treacherous today as it was for the Anzacs at
Gallipoli or the Diggers in northern France, North Africa or the jungles
of Asia.
The death of Lance-Cpl Marks is of course a tragedy for his family
and friends - but it also reinforces to all Australians the individual
sacrifices which have to be made to preserve democracy and freedom and
suppress world terrorism.
The sacrifice of Lance Corporal Jason Marks and the memory of the
102,811 who died before him - we will remember.

COMMENT ON
FEDERAL BUDGET
15/5/08
8 Thunderbird Drive, Bokarina 4575 :Phone 07 54931418
The Editor
Sir,
The first budget of the new labour government is a disgrace for the way
it continues the absolute neglect of pensioners, carers and the disabled
whilst giving tax cuts and other benefits those who are relatively well
off.
Many of those pensioners lived through a time when it was impossible to
save and when working conditions were appalling . Some are doubtless war
veterans who lived through the depression of the thirties and put their
lives on the line for the nation.
Without the carers the government would have to pay billions for the
work these people do for next to nothing.
The government has over forty billion stashed away for a so called rainy
day. For pensioners and the like it is pouring right now . These people
suffered privation throughout their lives and helped to make Australia
what it is today and deserve better whatever the cost.

POLITICS :
AUSTRALIAN FIRSTS
The first Governor in Australia
was Captain Arthur Phillip, who became Governor on the 26th of January
when formal possession of the colony of New South Wales was made in
1788.
On the 11th of August, 1824, the
first parliament in Australia, the Legislative Council of New South
Wales, was opened. It was also the first parliamentary group to open
under responsible Government when it was initiated on the 22nd may,
1856.
The first vote by ballot in the
world in parliamentary elections was in 1856 for the Victorian
Government.
The first preferential voting
system in the world was introduced by Queensland under the Electoral Act
of the 5th of July, 1892.
Votes for all adult males were
first introduced in South Australia on the 12th of June 1856. The first
election in which all adult males were able to vote for the South
Australian Assembly on the 10th March 1857.
Victoria was the first colony to
initiate payment of members of Parliament in the Lower House and did so
on the 14th of September 1870.
The first compulsory voting in the
world was introduced by an Act on the 24th of December, 1914, in
Queensland. It was the first applied at a general election on the 22nd
May of May, 1915, when Labor won the first overall majority.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Labor's federal election victory was
sealed by the votes of fewer than 10,000 people, who could have ensured
the coalition remained in power had they voted the other way in 11 key
seats. The final election result, resolved just before Christmas, shows
that if the coalition wants to win back power at the next election, it
will need to regain 11 seats from Labor and avoid losing any more.
The clincher seats are spread out
around the nation, with three in NSW, two in Queensland, two in
Tasmania, two in Victoria and one each in the Northern Territory and
Western Australia. When the new House of Representatives meets for the
first, it will be made up of 83 Labor MP's (up from 60 before the
election), 65 coalition MP's (down from 87) and two independents (down
from three). The coalition's representation has dropped by 22
electorates, as it lost 25 of the seats it held or notionally held to
Labor but picked up two Labor seats in WA and one previously held by an
Independent in NSW.
Had
the Howard government held on to 11 of the seats it lost, it would have
still held 76 of the 150 seats in the House of Representatives and
remained in power. Though there were more than 13.6 million Australians
enrolled to vote at the November 24 (2007) election, the change of
government was ultimately cemented by fewer than 10,000.
An analysis by the Weekend
AFR shows that in the 11 seats Labor won from the coalition with the
tightest victory margins, Labor finished a total of 19,411 votes ahead.
If just over half of these voters in each of the 11 electorates - that's
9715 people in all - had chosen to support the coalition MP rather than
the Labor candidate, the Howard government might have been returned for
a fifth term of office. However, it should be noted that for the
coalition to have retained power, it would have required not just an
extra 9715 votes across these 11 electorates but for them to have been
aligned exactly in the seats where they were needed.
The closest count in the seats that
Labor won from the coalition was in Robertson on NSW's Central Coast,
where Labor's Belinda Neal finished just 184 votes ahead of former
Liberal frontbencher Jim Lloyd. Not far behind was Solomon in the NT,
where Labor's Damian Hale finished 196 votes in front of former Country
Liberal MP Dave Tollner. Labor's third-tightest victory margin was in
the newly created seat of Flynn, which notionally should have gone to
the Nationals but instead went to Labor's Chris Trevor, who finished 253
votes ahead of the National's candidate.
But Labor's winning lead was more
solid in some of the 11 deciding seats, ranging up to Page of NSW's
north coast, where Janelle Safin finished 4030 votes ahead of the
candidate aiming to replace a retiring Nationals MP.
At the next election, the coalition
will be defending some extremely tight margins in seats where it managed
to only just cling on. Former minister Fran Bailey won by just 12 votes
in the Victorian seat of McEwin, meaning her political career could have
been over if seven of her supporters had deserted her. In the Queensland
seat of Bowman, Liberal MP Andrew Laming is also on a slim margin,
having finished just 64 votes in front of the Labor candidate.
Labor approached the election ahead
in the polls but conscious that it would be a big challenge to win the
16 seats it needed to take government. In the end the party walked away
with a net gain of 23 MP's.

WHEN THE CHIPS ARE DOWN
The family stares at the TV screen, expressions of
disbelief
The banks foreclose on a neighbour’s home, no offers
of scant relief
The ministers charged with Australia’s good, now
clearly have lost the road
When the system fails and the chips are down, an
Aussie will bear the load
The farmer kneels by his withering crop; the dust
hides the blazing sun
The rain is late and the plains are dry, the rivers no
longer run
The sheep draw breath by a creaking mill, the pastures
no longer hoed
When the system fails and the chips are down, an
Aussie will bear the load
Out on the highway the big rig rolls, the driver in
need of sleep
He dares not stop just to take a break; his mortgage
is far too deep
For earn he must, lest’ he’s sure to lose, his humble
and small abode
When the system fails and the chips are down, an
Aussie will bear the load
Down in the city the streets are bare; the residents
hide in fear
The vandals wreck and the burglars steal; and the
thugs and the gangs are near
But a sturdy fence and an ugly dog; and a cricket bat
carefully stowed
When the system fails and the chips are down, an
Aussie will bear the load
But the chips are down in this land so rich; our
future is close to "broke"
Our farms and shops and our factories too are held in
a grizzly yoke
And our systems’ failed and the battler’s strength;
has weakened and mostly slowed
So now we call a united front; to rally and raise the
mode.

ONE NATION CALLS TO
ABOLISH CURRENT SPEED
DETECTION DEVICES
"One
Nation will make a national call to abolish 99% of speed detection
devices. It is about time road safety became paramount rather than all
efforts of our police force working towards revenue raising", said Mark
Aldridge, Senate Team
Leader for The New One Nation.
"The public are not aware that it has been proven that a majority of
speed detection devices are illegal and in fact by their use,
detrimental to public and road safety. In fact these devices do not
comply with appropriate legislation. We must question why it is when we
receive a fine we are considered guilty. What has happened to the common
law right of innocent until proven guilty? Or is it the case that the
police cannot prove your guilt?
"A perfect example is when we look at the police operator’s manual.
For instance section
5.5 of the mobile radar manual states "there are
many forms of interference ……
however, they are too numerous to
mention". So where is their accuracy? Let us imagine they are within 10%
of their readings (although this has not been proven). We are still in
big trouble in regards to road safety. Most countries have adopted speed
limits that adhere to the 85th percentile, which sets limits at the safest
level to reduce road accidents. For over a decade our government have
even ignored this practice. The NMAA (National Motorist Association of
Australia) have lobbied for this and other road safety initiatives,
all-falling on deaf ears. Nearly 300 million dollars has been raised
from South Australian motorists in revenue while road fatalities remain
the same. Never stand in the way of a politician with a huge bucket of
cash", Mr. Aldridge added.
"When we drove 1950s and 1960s model cars the speed limits were
basically 60, 80 and 110. Now we drive vehicles with much better
handling and braking, ABS etc., and our limits have not only been
lowered but are becoming increasingly confusing,
40,50,60,70,80,90,100
and 110. In fact, on one stretch of road the limit can change 4 or 5
times and where do they hide the cameras, on downhill slopes and in
bushes etc."
"Our government would have you believe speeding is the only cause of
road crashes not even close". "Out of 40,000 crashes per year in S.A.,
218 are from excessive speed (1.2%), 5266 by failing to give way and
17,379 from inattention. What have our government done to address
inattention? A higher police presence on the roads and better driver
education are ignored, all in favour of hiding our police in the
bushes."
"And it is all getting worse. They have now reduced the allowance
between posted limits and fine allocation, creating a situation where,
when you allow for the inaccuracy of both the vehicles Speedo and the detection device, motorists can be fined for actually adhering to the
limit. Where is the fair go here?" "Should we be concentrating on our
Speedo or on the road ahead?" Mr Aldridge said.
"Considering the facts, there should be at least a 15% allowance!
Detection devices should be highly visible and located at known black
spots and our police should be on the roads promoting road safety rather
than revenue raising."
"South Australian drivers should be congratulated rather than
penalised". "Even with the
odds stacked against them there has been a
50% reduction in fines issued last year. But, this has created more
problems. This short fall in government budget forecasts has prompted
our deputy police commissioner; Grant Stevens to demand our police issue
a minimum of a 20% increase in fines issued. In my mind, this equates to
extortion of innocent drivers without regard to road safety",.
"My advice is to give the government nothing. Drive 5 klms below
posted limits, keep an eye on your Speedo and let other drivers know
where they are, until we can address this issue and if you think you
have been fined for doing the right thing, stand and fight in the
courts. It is about time all Aussie motorists stood against this blatant
attack on their rights. Even the insurance companies are capitalising on
this situation by refusing claims, in some cases, if you have not
advised them of any traffic offences within 14 days of receiving them,
even minor speeding fines that might not even have been fair!"
"The worst fact of all is that most of our road laws have never been
endorsed by our government to enable them to become law! Even the
detection devices themselves do not meet legal metrology standards.
These are just a few problems raising their ugly heads from this
situation."
"One Nation will fight for motorists’ right for a fair go and for our
country’s long term road safety. Further information is available on our
website,

or at
www.aussiespeedingfines.com

concluded.
